Children’s Day Celebration on 29 September 2010

Children’s day is an event that is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day to honour children. PCF Sparkle*Tots Nanyang celebrated its first Children’s Day on 29 September 2010.

Teachers decorated the centre and planned interesting activities for the children. Children had the chance to design a kite, receive balloon sculptures from teachers and participate in various games.

Let’s take a look at the happy moments on this special day!

1) Kite Making - Children decorated their paper kites in creative and colourful ways. Each design is special and unique to the child.

2) Balloon Sculpture - Each child was given a balloon sculpture. They get to choose the type of sculpture they want the teacher to make for them.

3) Games - Children participated in various games that teachers have planned for them, such as Balloon Game, Musical Chairs, Toss-the-Egg

It was a day of fun-filled activities and we wish all the children a very Happy Children’s Day.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration on 22 Sep 2010

Mid-Autumn Festival is an important festival that is celebrated with family and friends. To foster the bond between the parents and centre, PCF Sparkle*Tots Nanyang has invited parents to join us in this celebration. The response was good and many parents turned up to join their children in the walk around the neighbourhood.

Children were involved in a variety of activities on this day. The activities include: Making a Lantern, Listening to a story on Mid-Autumn Festival, Making a Moon Cake and Taking a Walk with their Parents in the neighbourhood.

Materials were provided for children to make a lantern in class the day before the celebration. They enjoyed the process and were excited to see their creations being displayed. To engage parents’ involvement, the centre has invited parents to make a lantern using recycled materials with their child at home.

To allow children to have a better understanding of Mid-Autumn Festival, teachers and a few K1 students role played the legend of Houyi and Chang’e, the Moon Goddess of Immortality. Children also get hands-on experiences of making a snow skin moon cake in the centre.
Parents were served moon cakes, pomelo and Chinese tea before the walk.

We thank parents for their support in making this event a successful and fruitful one.

Let’s roll, knead and make a moon cake together.

Parents are invited for tea at the reception area.

We hope you enjoyed the walk as much as we do!
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

Racial Harmony Day

PCF Sparkle*Tots Nanyang celebrated its first Racial Harmony Day (RHD) on 21 July 2010. This is a day for the childcare children to celebrate Singapore’s success as a harmonious nation built on a rich diversity of cultures. This commemorative event helps to promote inter-racial understanding amongst our children. It is also a part of National Education.

The RHD celebration is a reminder to our educators, children and stakeholders that promoting social cohesion and racial harmony requires constant effort from all. Staff and children were dressed in traditional costumes, different heritage and tradition found in Singapore were shared and traditional delicacies were served in the celebration.
